How to add HTTPS property to Google Search Console

I already have website properties in Google Search Console.  But how do I add a new property to Google Search Console?

After all the brain-wrecking work of dealing with installing HTTPS to my websites, I now need to add the https property to Google Search Console.  This is because Google considers HTTPS url and HTTP url to the same destination page as two separate URLs.

So in this article, I am dealing specifically with adding the HTTPS versions (which Google calls “properties”) to the GSC (Google Search Console).

How to add HTTPS property to Google Search Console

Go to your Google Search Console.

At the top left, click the down-arrow for the drop-down menu.

Note: If you have both www and non-www versions of the same site, you will do this process for each separately.

Click “Add Property”

For adding HTTPS urls as properties to GSC, select URL prefix in the pop-up box >> enter the https version of your URL.

Google will then verify ownership.

I have already verified this domain so the ownership is auto verified.

So I end up with 4 Google properties for my one domain.  I already had added the www and non-www version before this exercise.  After adding the HTTPS properties, I now have 4 for the same domain.
