Bigpond - Quite a Lousy site

I am a long-time Telstra Bigpond user. I am on cable. And if Google had a lousy site like Bigpond does, Google would not be the giant they are today. Bigpond site is just crappy.

They have this fab little thing - a meter - that shows you how much of your allowance you have used. But who really uses it much? I don't.

Firstly, it is SLOW to load.
Then sometimes, Bigpond site does not load at all.

PayPal Problems: How sucky and scary is PayPal?

In recent months, I have been down PayPal Nightmare Alley - they restricted my account, they froze my (legitimate) monies, and they would not tell me what they were accusing me of. It was like being sent to prison and never knowing what crime you were supposed to have committed; never given a chance to defend/rectify/explain.

Google vs China

Google rightly pulls out from China

Well done Google! Google, the biggest internet giant, has at last decided to do the right thing and not be an accomplice any longer in China's blatant suppression of information. And for Google to do this at this time, when China is increasingly being acknowledged as the growing economic giant to whom every country is bowing their heads in supplication, desperately eager for a cut of the huge Chinese market, Google deserves a double accolade for their bravery.

Review - Firefox 3.0.14

Personal Review: Firefox 3.0.14

The browser Firefox 3.0.14 is the latest version as at this time of writing. And in my personal opinion, it is a bit of a disappointment. I don't have a lot of time right now to do research and see how others may be finding it but I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and am not impressed.

Twitter and DMOZ

Can you Twitter your way into DMOZ?

I was just wondering the other day if Twitter, or rather, being on Twitter improves one's chances of being included in DMOZ (aka Open Directory Project) and hence, somewhat on their Google Ranking and SEO aspirations. Well I found out in a most unexpected way.

First Blog - why this site is here

As my first blog ever and on my own site .. well it is both exciting and frighteneing. What I want to address here is why this site has come into being: Why 'netwebbing'? This site (started a long time ago when I was fumbling with the net and there was no Drupal!) originated from my need to have a place I can organize notes and things I learnt or read. Specifically a Quick Reference kind of place. This site is meant to cover things-technical - like scripting and web authoring. Software and graphics programs that are popular. Online systems like osCommerce, Drupal, etc.
