What is Google Friend Connect?

The official line is that this is a Google online service that instantly helps make your site(s) social. But what does that mean?

It offers various gadgets (code) that you can put on your sites which among other things allow readers to easily choose to become followers (of that blog/site).

To use GFC (no, don't be silly. That does not stand for Google Fried Chicken), you first need to add a blog/site. Then for each of them, GFC offers various gadgets to help make that site social.

Add Members Gadget

This generates code that you can copy and paste whereever you would like the gadget to appear on your site/blog.

You can specify box color and dimensions and also you can change them later. This is what it could look like after you have added the code into your site.

Compare how this box differs from the Followers box provided by NetworkedBlogs - the application from Facebook. But for now, we need both boxes because they contain non-intersecting sets of followers :(
