Tracking Code

Analytics Tracking code

The tracking code that is provided to you will work with most websites. However there are some scenarios where you might have to edit that code. Please check the links (to Google) if any of the following apply to you.

Website Profile

Google Analytics Website Profile

After you have opened an Analytics account, one of the first things you should do is create a profile.

Google profile reporting

Setting up website profiles is essentially determining the reports you want. The most common is setting up one profile per domain. That way, if you have multiple domains, you can have individual reports on each of them.

Analytics

Google Analytics

Google Analytics gives a lot of statistical tracking information to help you optimize your investment. It certainly can get very complex. However here, we will cover topics that non-geeks can use on how to utilize this Google service.

It is free. It is highly integrated with AdWords but you can sign up for Google Analytics even if you don't have an AdWords account. Analytics is used to track AdWords, AdSense, Blogger, and Google Sites.

GOOGLE

Google Products, Services, and Technologies

Google is so big and so wide in its scope that it is hard to know where to place this category so that it is easy for users to find. Here since I plan to cover topics that are relevant to site owners, developers, and also (site) advertisers, I have decided to place my Google topics here under Web Developers Reference Library.

Free Developer Resource Library

This is the library for web developer related topics. This is a free site. Our topics will range from HTML, JavaScripts, CSS, to online programs like osCommerce and Drupal. We have articles, how-to step-by-step instructions, as well as handy glossaries.

Please note that as at Feb 09, we have just started this site so it may take us a while to populate it with content.

Code Tag

The code tag is part of the phrase elements group as recommended by HTML 4.0.
<code> is generally used on inline characters/test to denote programming or scripting code.

Browsers differ on how and if they distinguish the <code> tag at all. Netscape, Firefox, and Internet Explorer tend to display this tag as slightly smaller than the body font, and in monospace font. Style sheets can be used to modify this.

Phrase Elements

HTML <em> <strong> <dfn> <code> <samp> <kbd> <var> <cite> tags

Phrase elements are a large group of elements/tags in the HTML 4.0 recommendation. These elements are used to assign structural meaning to specified sections of a document.
