I have been with SBI for quite a few years now. And after the initial year, I pretty much stopped doing much updates over there. Did I also mention that they cost me the most ($300+ per year) of all my sites. And it also earns me the most. And as I still have it, despite saying (honestly) I HATE it, it must also tell you, it works. From day 1 it did my head in. The amount of reading and reading before one could even start. But I stuck with it. Even when I had to read instructions 10 times just to understand what they were saying, I stuck with it. (And I can with all honesty tell you, I am not some dumbo). I stuck with it and I stuck with it; especially in the first year. And then I started other sites. But still every once in a while, I would come back to do more work at my SBI site (www.jewerlymaking-beads-library.com) but working on/with SBI never got better. In fact, I learnt to hate it more and more and MORE each time I came back to do work at my SBI site. Everytime I came back to work on my SBI site, I would have to spend long FRUSTRATING hours just trying to figure out again where to do to do simple updates or load a new page or to change a layout. If Google with all their complex, vast, expanding programs can make things so user-friendly, surely SBI can attempt to do the same with their services. SBI, to use, is a NIGHTMARE. Everytime. Why? Because it is the furtherest thing from user-friendly that you can find. My head hurts everytime I try to read their instructions. SBI is NOT user-friendly; SBI is user-HELL!Yet, despite valiant attempts, I am still stuck with that SBI site of mine coz it earns me the most money, consistently, every month. I would like to use it more (especially as I am paying so much for it), and I keep hoping that the makers of SBI will make it user-friendly, but the passing years have not shown any hope nor improvement in these directions. Summary SBI is the hell you can't do without. Note to SBI creators/owners Please can you not employ someone who has proficiency and competence in creating user-friend services and guides??? Addendum: 2 Dec 2011 I received an email from a visitor (Don) and I have his permission to re-print his email here: Helena, I appreciate your honesty in venting your frustration with SBI. It seems to be a treasure trove of insight and information but it's almost impossible to find something. Even the forums are a nightmare. I've in the process of trying to build my web site and I accidentally chose the wrong template. Yet I can't seem to go backwards and start over. I try to access Site Central and it brings up this "build your home page" form. I just can't understand how someone with such good videos can have a service that makes it almost impossible to find the tools you need. Plus it's just a labyrinth of links that leave your head spinning. I'm about two months into this program and if I need to ask for a refund, I better figure out if this is me or if this is a poorly-conceived service. Do you have any suggestions? And my response: Hi Don I appreciate you writing to me :) I am so glad that I am not the only one whose head is in a spin over SBI. I hope to find more time in the coming months to spend more time there in the hopes that SBI will not be such a horrendous labyrinth! However in the meantime, before you quit them all together, you might want to email them. I know the last time I did, I received a HUMAN response. There is usually someone who almost like takes you on (in a kind way) and will help/answer your questions. I can't tell you how many hours I have spent watching/reading their material (even before I started) and I still cannot say I know SBI any better. You are so right - how is it possible that they can produce such good vids and yet be so deplorable in the admin and navigation of their own site. However, try and stick with it. I am not sure what it is that they do right - but I get more clicks from that one site than all my other sites combined. Even now when I barely update my SBI site for months and months on end. May I post your comments onto my site? I won't do it till I get an ok from you. Thanks Dan and good luck. Keep in touch or let me know how it goes with contact SBI. Please feel free to contact me again if you think I can help in any other way. Addendum: 13 Dec 2011 However having said all the above and vented my frustration, I have decided to make (another) concerted effort in finding how I can use SBI more easily. That way I might get to have a LOVE-LOVE realationship with SBI. You will find my articles on SBI which hopefully will make your SBI journey more pleasant and Profitable as well. |
